AFTER A TINY 3-WEEK BREAK, THE LGX ARENA WAS BACK ON THE 3RD OF JULY 2021 ON ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR GAMES AT THE MOMENT: CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE. SUICUNE (TWITTER: @SSSUICUNE) AND THEMINDGAMER (TWITTER: @WARZONERIVALS) ACCOMPANIED YOU DURING THIS AFTERNOON WHICH WAS FULL OF FRAGS, REVIVES AND GULAGS. LIVE OR RELIVE THIS EVENT WITH THIS DETAILED RECAP!
- 40 teams of 3 players;
- Private Lobby (the teams play against each other in a dedicated server);
- 6 rounds;
- Teams earn points at the end of each round: the 1st team earns 7 points, the 2nd earns 6, the 3rd earns 5, the 4th earns 4, the 5th earns 3 + 1 point for each enemy killed. But there is a catch ! A team can not earn more than 20 points thanks to kills which means that a team that kills 25 enemies will “only” add 20 points to those earned thanks to ranking.
- Only the 4 best performances of each team count and are added up. The team with the most points at the end of the 6 rounds wins the tournament.
Three teams indubitably too strong
The tournament was dominated by three squads: GG, AAAvengers and HAWKZ. From the second to the last game, at least two of these three teams ended up on the podium. And an even more impressive fact is that the three teams were on the podium of the second game, far ahead of the others.
The outcome of the competition was uncertain until the last round! GG was too far ahead but an underperformance and only 10 points earned prevented them from dominating even more. But the duel AAAvengers vs HAWKZ was probably the most interesting one. At the end of this last round only one point, one kill, one better spot gathered here and there separated the two teams. At the end of the day, AAAvengers got the best and ended up in second place.
An unfortunate slump
Team Rabenflotte can kick themselves! Really strong and dominant in game 1 and game 6, they won both games with more than 20 kills (which ensured them to earn the maximum of 27 points) but sadly experienced a slump in-between. Despite an honest performance in game 4 with 19 points earned thanks to 13 kills and a second place (In their defence, teams GG and AAAvengers with respectively 20 et 28 kills only left crumbles to the others), their performance in the other 3 games really dragged them down. They unfortunately ended up in fourth place, 7 points away from the podium and the cash prize. We congratulate them and wish to see them in our next Warzone tournament for the rematch!
Plays of the weekend
We saw so many amazing plays that it was hard to make a choice. But after thorough deliberation, here are the best moments of the competition!
The play of the weekend comes from AbWizz (renamed “No shirt guy” by the Twitch chat) from team AAAvengers. To leave a mark and end the second round, he decided to backstab his opponent which triggers an animation which usually leaves the player vulnerable. This is the type of disrespect we always like to see.
Impossible not to mention this genius play from team GG. Kuzco rushes in the zone to revive his two teammates but is killed right before getting out. Once revived, Marcoss rushes to the ground to kill as many enemies as possible but dies quickly. As for him, Viper buys some time in the air, lands on a roof where a juicy loot is waiting for him, kills two enemies and, thanks to an air-strike, wins it all.
Wonderful end of round from team HAWKZ ! After killing 3 enemies and being on the verge of dying, GneralRiflon was put back on his feet by one of his teammates, which allowed them to take the win.
Another great play from team AAAvengers ! Thanks to a surgical air-strike, they wiped up the whole enemy squad, increasing their killscore from 12 to 15 and giving them a great advantage in the scoreboard.
That play was not particularly impressive but we wanted to show you Louis “Ilvaley”, your amazing graphic designer/CM dying like a newbie. That’s it.
